HR Meet 2024

SGPC’s Guru Nanak Institute of Management Studies hosted the 5 th HR Meet Pratibimb 2024 on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion on 13 th Jan 2024. The Knowledge partner for the Meet was Avtar a leading Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Consulting firm in India and the sponsor was BoostGrade. Students were introduced to the concept of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion through this Meet. 6 Alumni, 650 (400 Undergraduate Final year students and 250 First and Second year MMS,PGDM ) students and Faculty members participated in that HR Meet. Students from JBIMS & IES and HR from corporates like Promodome Digital LLP, Talent Networks Pvt Ltd., CMS Info system ltd., Sulzer Pumps India Pvt Ltd., Advait Techserve India Pvt Ltd., UST and Abhita Finance Advisors Pvt Ltd also participated.

The keynote address was given by Sriram Pitchumani, Chief Strategist- DEI Transformation at Avtar.He shared every women has to go through three stages Marriage, Maternity & Motherhood and due to which she is unable to build her career.His words encouraged the women power to pause and think about it.He also made all the men in the audience take a pledge that they will support all the women in their life to pursue their career aspirations followed by a Q & A. Diversity and inclusion are complementary to each other. If we don’t have inclusion, diversity cannot be taken care of. First, we should talk about inclusive mindset before talking about diversity. LGBTQ and PWD (people with disability) in their workplace.
This was followed by a panel discussion consisting of Deepakkumar Jaiswal- Total Reward & Compensation Lead at Wipro, Nishta Nishant: Equal Rights Activist, CEO-Tweet Foundation & Manoj Chaudhary- Head HR- Edelweiss Mutual Fund. The discussion was moderated by Harini Sreenivaasan- Partner – Semcostyle Institute India asked the right questions,engaged the audience.The focus was on the diversity and inclusion practices of their organizations and how do they drive the programs and what are the challenges and business implications of the same.There were questions asked by the student fraternity.The theme,sharp insights given by the resource persons were well appreciated by the audience.There was energy,drive and lot of takeaways for each one in the audience.Post Lunch there was an experiential learning exercise in the form of a drawing competition open for all students from GNIMS & other post graduate Institutions in Mumbai.Participants had to paint their ideas and learnings from the Meet that they participated on canvass.The first prize was won by JBIMS & the second prize had a tie wherein the prize money was shared by two first year MMS students. The Meet concluded with a Vote of Thanks and National Anthem.

Considering a physically disabled person for a client relationship manager because of his/her skills.
Providing comfortable restroom spaces for LGBTQ community which will give them the dignified feeling.
Thinking with an open mind and avoiding unconscious biases which stop us from making the correct decisions. Diversity is here to stay, the more we understand it and start helping each other, the better we will grow.
Drawing Competition

A drawing competition was organized for all GNIMS and Outside Institute students on 13th Jan 2024.
Objective:
1. To bring out the creative expression, artistic skills of the students and to gauge their understanding of DEI from the HR Meet
2. The aim of this competition was not merely to see the creative aspect but also to trigger the thought process of the students.

1. This competition kept the students engaged. It was organized to explore and encourage creativity in students and offer them a platform to showcase their talent
2. It inspired them to think and to work creatively in order to promote artistic excellence.
3. The creativity & innovative ideas on the theme “Diversity, Equity and Inclusion” was well presented
4. The artistic endeavors of the students was highly praised and encouraged by the faculty members
