Seed of change initiative - cafeteria chronicles
April 23, 2024
One of the most unique activities undertaken by our institute is called as Cafeteria Chronicles.
This extra-curricular activity is envisioned to develop a strong student-teacher bonding through various team development motives. We thrive to create an ecosystem where we connect knowledge to spiritualism and create a niche for soul-growth.
Our 1st lecture was titled “GARDENING” and was organized on 23rd April,2024. Our guest speaker was Dr Chanda Maurya. She is a dedicated botanist, freelancing and helping people develop their own garden. She has completed her PhD in botany from Mumbai University and had the opportunity to lecture across many colleges. We had around 60 beneficiaries for the event. This event was also significant from the academic growth perspective as our current accreditation systems insist on sustainability as a key factor.
She began the lecture by providing various types of gardening, techniques employed in gardening, the parameters controlling plant growth. She laid special emphasis on the Dos and Don’ts in gardening which was well appreciated by the crowd. She also took us through the journey of terrace gardening and concluded by solving multiple queries from the audience regarding plant death and failure to flower.
We also announced the SEED OF CHANGE INITITATIVE under the cafeteria chronicles where we undertook the activity of planting Tulsi samplings. These samplings will be distributed to schools, colleges, establishments and corporates in our vicinity on the occasion of “WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY” on 6th June 2024.
Thus, through our initiative we would like to pass the message that gardening is a spiritual connect with Mother Earth. Like we give birth to humans, the growth of a plant signifies new life, birth and blossoming of femineity. Growing of plants signifies positivity and provides a sense of soul connect with our roots. It symbolizes innocence and we learn the attributes of selfless contribution from the plants. With this we concluded the session with lot of warmth and excitement.
To conclude, I would like to quote Audrey Hepburn – “To plant a garden is to dream of tomorrow”.
