GNIMS students geared to protect Mother Nature
GNIMS Business School kickstarted their initiatives to protect Mother Nature in association with DIYA Mumbai In order to sensitize students towards the need to preserve our environment and ecology, tree plantation drives, and cleanliness drives are a regular feature on GNIMS campus.
GNIMS conducted a plantation drive at Meenatai Udyan Sector 17 Vashi New Mumbai on 25th August’19 from 08:00 a.m to 01:00 p.m.The team planted were Neem, Ashoka, Jamun, Avala, Mango and other medicinal plants. Team DIYA explained the students about the trees and the importance of tree plantation. Students selected the saplings and volunteered to bring it to the site of plantation. All were highly enthusiastic to make it a big success.
The team along with Shri Sampat Shewale, Chairman Standing Committee Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation, Dr Harish Sanghvi and Ms.Suchita Shetty,Assistant Professor- GNIMS and the whole team surveyed the site and identified location where trees could be planted. The team conducted collective prayers and latter planted the saplings supported and watered the saplings. The student volunteers used the gardening equipment for the first time and learnt how to plant the saplings. Post plantation the team volunteered to clean the garden collecting all waste debris, plastic bottles, and other waste. Every step of the programme was appreciated by the representatives of the administration. The programme created a great stir among the public too as they saw youths involved in this selfless endeavour. Many passerby voluntary offered to be part of such drives Shri Sampatji assured the team that each planted sapling would be well taken care off post plantation. He invited GNIMS students for more such plantation drives with Public Participation in New Mumbai
