Induction Programme for PGDM Batch 2014-16

The Induction program of the PGDM Batch 2014-16 was inaugurated on Friday, 18th July, 2014. The Program started with the Prayer song.

Thereafter, the Director-In-Charge, Mr. M Krishnan, welcomed the students and stressed on importance of quality education combining classroom teaching with corporate interactions.

The country’s economy is changing for better with expectations of uptick in job prospects. It is therefore essential for students to equip themselves with necessary skill-sets to meet the emerging challenges. The Institute is also looking to upgrade the PGDM curriculum to make it coterminous to industry expectations. The student centric approach of the Institute is centered on enhancing the knowledge base of the students besides their soft skills.

The students were then addressed and greeted by Dr. R. K. Patheja, Management Nominee. She stressed on the strong lineage of the Institute steeped in values and ethics as well as her close association and fond memories with the Khalsa fraternity spanning decades from a student initially to various positions at different points in time to the present level in the Management. She advised the students on basic discipline that they need to have for success in their studies and later in their life.

Ms. Gurjeet Multani, CDC Head gave an overview of the placement scenario and the recruiters of GNIMS. She outlined the various career development initiatives of the Institute for all round development of students and the need for the students active participation in all of them. She also emphasized on the need for necessary preparations on the part of the students for getting a good job with a handsome package. Further she spoke about the kind of mindset and discipline that will be required during the course of two years in the Institute.

After the Tea Break, Mr. Anuj Jain, Career Counselor from EduGroomers conducted an ice breaking session for the students - which included inter-alia self introduction, the importance of listening followed by some motivational videos.

The highpoint of the program was the presence of Mr. Rishab Kapoor, an alumni of the Institute belonging to the PGDM Batch 2012-14. He is presently working with Bluestar Infotech as Management Trainee. He interacted with the students and shared his life and times at GNIMS. This was followed by a familiarization tour of the campus when the PGDM students were taken round the campus. Thereafter the students had a library presentation by Ms. Neeta about the books, journals and e-journals available in the library.

The last session of the Induction was concluded by Prof. Sameer Salunkhe Class Coordinator of PGDM. He apprised the students on the ground rules and regulations of the Institute such as attendance, lecture schedules, dress code and discipline, etc.
